Gifts That Save Lives

This year, when you are struggling to find that perfect gift for a friend or family member, why not forget the chocolates, fuzzy slippers and neckties and give a gift that could potentially save their life. Consider wrapping up some safety and putting it under the tree:

  • Non-slip bath mats or shower grab bars to help prevent falls in the tub.
  • Window guards especially for children in high rise buildings who are at risk of falling out windows.
  • Baby gates to help keep toddlers from falling down stairs.
  • Smoke alarms (and be sure to include the batteries).
  • Multipurpose fire extinguishers are an appropriate adult gift.
  • Flashlights and batteries can provide light if the power goes out.
  • Fire escape ladders are perfect for families with bedrooms on a second floor.
  • Carbon monoxide alarms warn loved ones of carbon monoxide in their homes.
  • Child locks protect curious children from poisons and other dangerous substances.
  • Night lights can help reduce slips and falls in the night.
  • Anti-scald devices help control faucet temperatures and reduce the risk of scalding.
